Virginia Pines

This linocut print of pine trees is not actually of Virginia pines (Pinus virginiana). It is named instead for its origin: the large linocut block came from Virginia, the only bookbinder in DeKalb when I moved there. I met her toward the end of her life, when she joyously sold us all of her equipment. I’ve carried the block with me for over twenty years, but never printed with it.
 
I had some green on the press and this block begged me to print it, so I did. This one's for you, Virginia. Thank you for your generosity with us all those years ago. 
 
There are three variations: Kraft Pinetops, Brown Pinetops, and Kraft Wild Pines (aka coniferous chaos). Each comes with a matchbox. You can also pick "Surprise Me" and get a mixed mix of all three for only $15.
