I learned to build books from a grumpy communist while living and working in Costa Rica in the early 2000's. The craft fascinated me - it was tactile, functional and esoteric. I have been building and repairing books ever since. My bindery is located on the edge of the Driftless Region just west of Madison, WI. 

 

Mordecai Book Building came to life as my skills and services expanded. Most of my work is small batch journals, custom pocketbooks, Bible re-cases and limited edition hand-bound works. After refurbishing a Vandercook #4 in 2018, my services expanded to include letterpress.

Currently, the majority of my work is making custom pocket books to help outdoor retailers, service providers and educators provide valuable information in tasty, tactile takeaways. Learn more here.
