150x150 "Truthiness" Skull

$600.00Price

Last year, I was invited to participate in the Madison Library's "150x150" Exhibition. To celebrate their 150th anniversary, they selected 150 artists, assigned them a year, and invited them to submit a piece of art based on a word that was introduced to the dictionary that year.

The year I was assigned was 2005, and the word I selected was "Truthiness", which is an adjective for something that is accepted as true based on intuition, gut feeling, or personal desire, rather than on facts, logic, or evidence

I decided to take some of my favorite sources of inspiration (skulls, comic books) and apply them to a new medium... literally. I literally applied clippings of onomatopoeia from comic books to a skull. There is also one word placed inside the skull, visible only by starting deep into its eyes. The cranium is removable, so yes, it is possible to fill the skull with candy. This is a one-of-a-kind sculpture.

Thank you.
